!SPOILERS FOR MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN 2, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Spider-Man suits – one of the most iconic parts of every Spidey game out there, but especially those of the Insomniac ones! The Spider-Man games are widely recognized as having some of the best aesthetic customization options in gaming. And the latest installment is no exception – with over 68 different suits to choose from, many of which also have 4 color variations, and it becomes so hard to choose what to wear! However, not all suits are made equal – and the developers have some banging designs, just as they have bad ones. Let's focus on the best ones for today though – starting off with the original Spider-Man! I will try to refrain from ranking suits that were in previous games, unless they have been improved in the sequel (or are just that good!)

PETER

10. ARACHKNIGHT SUIT

One of the two pre-order bonus suits, but also unlockable through playing and the game, the Arachknight outfit is inspired by the Infinity Warps storyline where Spider-Man and Moon Knight merge into a single character. It has one or two decent color options, but the base look is by far the best. It's one of the few suits in the game which feature a cape, and a hood to boot. However, a major missed opportunity is that the web wings still pop out for gliding. Instead, everyone was hoping that this suit would utilize the cape, kind of like how the Dark Knight himself glides around Gotham. If that was the case, this suit would've definitely been rated higher.

9. AMAZING 2 SUIT

One of the most highly requested suits from the first game, Andrew Garfield's second suit is here. It's arguably the best live-action Spidey costume, but in-game is a different story. Don't get me wrong, the suit is good – and it's been patched (twice now) to improve its logo and reflections. Still, as good as it is, I still prefer other options.

8. INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE NOIR SUIT

Players disliked the Noir suit in Spider-Man 2018, because it wasn't sporting a cap, a fedora or anything that made it interesting. Insomniac took that to heart – and made sure this one is remembered by everybody. This suit is awesome – the 12 fps animations that all Spider-Verse suits have, the synergy with the Rubik's cube dive, and the cape and fedora combo. Everything we wanted is here and it's beautiful. Unfortunately, the suit loses a few points because it looks really weird when Peter takes off his mask during a cutscene. For free-roam, 10/10, but for story purposes? Would not recommend.

7. SECRET WARS: CIVIL WAR SUIT

Although this suit is far from being one of the best Spider-Man designs, it has a single saving grace which land it a high spot on this list – it has a unique web wings animation. In the comics, Peter uses a Falcon-like device to fly, extending a set of wings from his back. Well, guess what – Insomniac made this the flying animation. This makes this outfit the only one in the game to have a unique gliding animation.

6. SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN SUIT

People were concerned that the lack of this suit in Spider-Man 2018 meant that Insomniac planned to adapt the Superior Spider-Man storyline. That theory has been put to rest now – because the Superior suit is here, and boy is it amazing. The high-tech gear Peter uses in this game really fits with this outfit – including changing the Spider Arms into their comic-accurate red color. Its variations are also nice and feature references to other suits from more recent comic runs.

5. NEW RED AND BLUE SUIT

Another one of the highly requested movie suits, Tom Holland's Final Swing suit has made it into the game, and it's as glorious as everyone expected. Even more so than the TASM 2 suit, this truly feels like the live action version of the Classic Suit we all know and love. Let's just hope Tom wears this for his next trilogy, instead of Disney forcing new suits for toy marketing.

4. WEBBED BLACK SUIT

Bully Maguire time – the iconic black suit from Spider-Man is here and it's incredible. It sports the much better (in my opinion) back logo than the original Webbed suit and of course, different textures to give it that smooth symbiote feel. You can absolutely run through the streets of Manhattan with this and recreate the iconic dance – but brutally beating up criminals and screaming 'See ya chump!' is also an option!

3. CLASSIC BLACK SUIT

This is beautiful – I've been looking at this for the whole day! The classic symbiote suit utilizes the color variations better than any other costume in the game – it has a normal black color, a purple color inspired by the ultimate suit, an Anti-Venom color swap and of course – the red and blue lighting from 90s series. This outfit is just a joy to wear. If Insomniac hadn't upped their game for their own personal Black suit, this would be even higher. But being in the top 3 is still great!

2. BLACK SUIT

There are two Insomniac-original black suits in the game – this one, and the grimier symbiote version. I prefer this cleaner, less feral costume. The designers nailed every aspect of this outfit – the jaw opening to symbolize Venom, the different textures to indicate the suit acts like an exoskeleton while also being a living alien and the classic features like the wide white eyes and logo which are instantly recognizable. If it wasn't for a more classic suit, I would've rated this the best costume in the game.

1. ADVANCED SUIT 2.0

However, that title must go to the new and improved Advanced suit. All the problems the original Advanced suit had are fixed now – the red color is deeper, the white logo stays inside the red zone, the textures are improved and boy, is this thing amazing. I always wear the story-accurate suits during my first playthrough of these games, so I spent most of my time platinuming the game with this outfit – and I never once got bored of it. It looks clean, plays clean and is overall the most iconic suit in Peter's arsenal. I can barely think of way to improve this one in the next installment!

MILES

10. BEST THERE IS SUIT

One of the two suits which reference other Marvel heroes in Miles' Arsenal, the Best There Is suit is a direct callout to our favorite Canadian mutant. Yes, the same one for whom Insomniac is developing a game now. The color variations of this suit are awesome, especially the yellow and blue one – you can turn into the classic X-men with it! It truly makes you feel like Wolverine.

9. FOREVER SUIT

Insomniac is no stranger to paying their respects to comic icons – first with Stan Lee, then with Chadwick Boseman. I have no doubt that his passing influenced the making of this suit – and it's a really cool outfit meant to commemorate the Black Panther. You should absolutely visit the Wakandan Embassy in Manhattan while wearing this – there, you can pay your respects by gesturing the Wakanda forever arm cross. Rest in power, King T'Challa.

8. KING IN BLACK SUIT

A reference to the infamous King of the Symbiotes, Knull himself, the King in Black suit is one of the three symbiote outfits Miles can unlock in the game. Its color variations are ok, but the base costume is cool enough. It has the bone-spiked shoulder pads, the symbiote logo of the dragon Grendel instead of a Spider, and the hypnotic symbol on Miles' head.

7. ABSOLUTE CARNAGE SUIT

Based on the comic run of the same name, this is one of if not the most monstrous skin for Miles in the game. It has small tentacles coming out of everywhere and a menacing set of eyes. The color variations are also great, unlike most suits, all 4 of them look amazing. It isn't higher on the list simply because it's a bit too ferocious for Miles' standards.

6. DARK AGES SUIT

This is a very clean symbiote outfit for our ultimate Spider-Man. All four of the color options look incredible and unique and it lacks the monstrous feeling of the other two symbiote suits, which means it's the nicest to wear, in its own weird way. If Miles had a Spider-Carnage outfit, this is what I would imagine it looking like.

5. MILES MORALES 2020 SUIT

This is a personal favorite of mine – nothing beats web-swinging during nighttime with this outfit. It was one of my favorite suits to just traverse the city with in Spider-Man: Miles Morales – but it's so much better in Spider-Man 2. It has probably the best color variations of any suit in the game (save for the Classic Black Suit) and coupled with the improved traversal – this outfit has never been a bigger vibe to wear.

4. BODEGA CAT SUIT

An instant fan-favorite, this is one of the two returning suits from Spider-Man: Miles Morales. A suit with a car on the back – who the hell doesn't love this? It's got two unique finishers with Spider-Man the Cat himself, various alternate color palettes to keep it fresh and stupendously cute animations! If we didn't already have this in the first Miles game, then it definitely would've been even higher on the list.

3. 10TH ANNIVERSARY SUIT

Originally, I wasn't a fan of the shading of pink on this suit, but it's been a few years since it got announced and honestly – it's really grown on me. In this game it's done very well, with amazing alternative options and textures. The scarf-like topside, the sneakers, the baggy hoodie look – this is a damn good suit. It truly encapsulates the exaggerated swagger of a black teen!

2. ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE SUIT

I was debating whether to put both Spider-Verse suits here, but I settled just for the one I like more – which is this one. Although he's bleeding from the armpits, it really feels like this is the right way to do a Miles original (not the stupid Evolved suit). The sleek black look, the clean logo on the front and the back, and of course all the 12 fps effects that it retains earn this suit a top spot on the list.

1. UPGRADED SUIT

Being the canon main story suit just like the Advanced 2.0 for Peter, it is obvious a large amount of love and care was put towards making this outfit. In my opinion, this is as good as it gets for a Miles suit – it's got all the elements his Classic suit has, but also upgrades on top of them, like a darker shade of black and the red lined going down his arms, which remind me of Nightwing. Not everyone will agree, but for me, this is just as good as the Classic suit if not better, and absolutely deserves its space at the top of this list.

Remember that this ranking is based on my own personal opinions and you're free to disagree! Let me know what you think, if you agree or disagree, and which your favorite suit is in the game!
